»The Blue Rider« - this group of artists which centred on Wassily Kandinsky and Franz Marc rang in modern art in Munich in 1912.
In 2000, the Kunsthalle Bremen presented the exhibition »The Blue Rider« which was modelled on three great historic activities which gave importance to The Blue Rider: the legendary »First Exhibition of the Editorial Board of the Blue Rider«, the »Second Exhibition of the Editorial Board of the Blue Rider. Black and White« and »The Blue Rider Almanac«.
The success of the exhibition was overwhelming.
Nobody had expected the 170,000 visitors who came from near and far, including 21,000 students. Thanks to special ideas - such as the 40 life-sized blue horses in the city, swimming names of artists in the rampart complex, or the signs and pins of the exhibition logo which have become classics - , the exhibition became the talk of the town, and it developed a magnetic force that made it appear too good to be missed.
