With the exhibition »Van Gogh: The Fields - The Poppy Field and the Artists' Debate«, the Kunsthalle Bremen had a brilliant success; it attracted more visitors than any other art-museum exhibition in the German-speaking countries in the years 2002/2003.

More than 320,000 people saw a popular and scientifically well-founded exposition on a special aspect of Van Gogh's works: landscape paintings, done in the last decades of the Dutch painter's life.

More than 80% of the visitors were not from Bremen; they came from all over Germany and from abroad. That goes to show the international character and the national presence of the exhibition campaign.
